Lifou is the largest of the Loyalty Islands, an archipelago approx. 150km East of New Caledonia.

The island has approx. 10,000 inhabitants, with an average electrical load of 1.2MW and a peak load of 2.4MW.

ENGIE Eps is supplying a 5.4MW/4.6MWh storage system, in order to enable an 80% renewable generation, mix on the island by 2019, via a mix of wind, solar and biofuel generation.

A 100%-renewable supply is targeted through a further project stage, by early next decade.
